For our thesis project, we were asked to create and design a project about a passionate subject while showcasing our skills that we have learned. We were encouraged to think of our projects as not only a statement of who we are as designers, but something with potential to extend on beyond the classroom and translate to the real world as a brand, product, shop, etc.
Wild Discoveries is a project dedicated to educating young minds about threatened species on the verge of extinction. The goal of Wild Discoveries is to stimulate a lifelong interest and support for preserving these species in their wild habitats as well as conservation in AZA accredited zoos and wildlife sanctuaries.
The illustrated letterforms are composed of a hand-painted portrait of the animal and collaged imagery of the animal’s natural environment in its corresponding letter of the alphabet. This set focused on Mammals & Birds, with the potential to create more sets covering all of the animal kingdoms on both land and sea. I plan to bring this project to life and hopefully publish it one day.
